Verm-Out
Pest Control & Game Management
Situated on the west coast of mid Wales, our deer management program consists of a yearly cull of surplus fallow prickets, yearling fallow stags, old fallow hinds, occasionally a mature fallow stag and young red stag. On very rare occasions mature red hinds and the red stag.
Minimal places are available for first time stalkers or anyone wanting to try their hand at stalking on a small scale basis, this is to set you on your way into the big world. Because they are farmed deer you're guaranteed a cull and will also be shown how to field dress and skin the carcass.
Please note this is for first timers, and it is on a small scale, but I can assure you through experience it will get your breathing and adrenalin going.

Red Stag
The red stag is part of our deer mangement program but is only culled on very rare occasions. We mainly cull the young stags until it's time to run one on until it reaches maturity and then the main stag is culled.
(Shooting season) August 1st - April 30th inclusive
Red Hind

With only having minimal numbers of red hinds these too are very rarely culled and only when age gets the better of them. All young hinds are run on at present.
(Shooting season) November 1st - March 31st inclusive
Fallow Buck
With having a larger quantity of fallow deer two bucks are kept for servicing the doe's until its time to run younger bucks on. Two young bucks (prickets) are kept on for two years until culled with the remaining yearling prickets.
(Shooting season) August 1st - April 30th inclusive
Fallow Doe

There's a good number of fallow doe's with each one giving birth to one calf each year around the middle of June. Only a few old doe's are culled each year.
(Shooting season) November 1st - March 31st inclusive
Roe Buck

The roe buck isn't part of our deer management program down Wales but is sometimes seen on our local permitted land. They are culled on rare occasions where our landowners are concerned with the damage being caused.
(Shooting season) April 30th - October 31st inclusive
Roe Doe

The roe doe is seen more often than the roe buck and in greater numbers. Because they tend to feed in groups they cause more damage so culling them is more frequent. Their numbers are multiplying greatly mainly to the fact that the doe can give birth of up to three young at a time.
(Shooting season) November 1st - March 31st inclusive
